Awesome. Such a classic episode. If you haven’t seen it, another great parody/homage is the Futurama episode where he reunites with most of the original cast (minus McCoy and Scotty).

Unfortunately, I’m going to guess that much of the current generation of gamers wouldn’t understand this reference. A lot of them probably best know Kirk and gang from the latest movie, and wouldn’t know who or what a Gorn was. Its been 45(!) years, so I suppose I can’t be too hard on them.

It’s really hilarious and this is the kind of stuff I always liked Shatner in (and where he is best).

I saw the Gorn episode in the late seventies, I think. I can’t remember being frightened and when I saw it again in the mid nineties it was totally campy. I don’t think this was entirely intentional back then but the classic series definitely had more serious episodes (and better Shatner-acting ;-)).
To this day it remains my favorite Star Trek TV series, with the latter seasons of NG coming in at a close second and the first few seasons of DS9 a close third.
