Tales of the Rampant Coyote

Ch…ch…ch…Changes!

Posted by Rampant Coyote on March 5, 2010

We’re in the process of transitioning Tales of the Rampant Coyote over to the new format and software. Things will never be the same again. You can still find the old information here, though:

(Archived) Tales of the Rampant Coyote – Old Format

Some of those ancient articles may be re-posted in the new blog (why not take the opportunity to be lazy and crib off myself?), but not all. Anyway, please contact me if you see anything not exactly working right around here. I expect it will be a few days before all the dust clears.

And here I am testing out my comments…. What do ya’ll think of the new digs?

  • Daniel said,

Whoa, just logged in and noticed the change. Looks great. So much for being ottomobiehl though…oh well, there is always the forums. 😉

  • WCG said,

    Very nice! Looks great.

  • Stu said,

I see the changes in the works.. suddenly its BRIGHT! (not a fan of the logo but it works)

  • Stu said,

not a fan of the comments being underlined either 😛

  • Rampant Coyote said,

Oh, hey, yeah, the comment thing is a problem. Lemme see if I can fix it. Thanks for the heads-up.

The rampant lion logo has been the logo for years, now. We’re keeping him. Although – for *just* the blog — I would love to commission Tom Siddell to provide me with an image of his version of coyote… rampant, of course.

Okay, now to test something else out…

    This is an italic test.

And this link test goes to check out some of the most awesome indie games on the planet.

  • Aelfric said,

I like it, though that looks more like a lion rampant than a coyote, just for the record. 🙂

  • Rampant Coyote said,

Yeah, “Rampant Games” is kinda non-specific as to what animal type it should be. But I’d love to have a rampant coyote logo just for this blog.

The missing RSS Feed is now in the links section in the right-hand column.

    Or here, if you want:

  • Zeus said,

Oh noes, you no longer optimize for 1024×768? It’s still the most widely used screen size.

Think of the netbooks, man, think of the netbooks!

*grumbles and messes with the bottom scrollbar*

    Rasslefrazzlemazzle.

  • Rampant Coyote said,

Strange – the right sidebar should end at pixel 992, which should work at 1024 x 768…

  • Zeus said,

Ramp…er… Mr. Coyote? I’ll go with “RC” because it makes you sound like a slick movie executive or thirst-quenching beverage.

RC, the right sidebar does seem to stop at the correct position, but then there’s a good chunk of forced blank white space after that that pushes it about a 5th of a screen beyond 1024.

I tried it in Firefox, Chrome and IE. Same story every time.

  • Rampant Coyote said,

Thanks. I’ll poke around and see if I can figure out what’s making it do that. (Another bug for the list…)

  • Xenovore said,

I can confirm that Zeus is correct — there is ~200 pixels of extra white space on the right side, causing the horizontal scroll to be displayed when the window is sized to the actual content.

By the way, it would be nice if the text wrapped for windows under 900 pixels; sometimes it’s handy to have the browser narrower, like ~500-600 pixels wide.

  • Rampant Coyote said,

I’d have to nuke one of the columns to do that. Not sure I’m willing to do that. But I’ve got the same issue with the browser, but I don’t know what’s causing it yet.
