The Face of the Nameless One

Posted by Rampant Coyote on October 26, 2011

Heh – file this away under trivia:

The face of the Nameless One on the cover of Planescape: Torment is none other than Guido Henkel, the producer of the project for Interplay.

He’s got a story to go along with it: “What’s In a Face”

Maybe I’m just weird, but I love stories like this.

I wish Henkel would go Indie some day. His Realms of Arkania trilogy is as awesome as the better known PS:Torment. It’s a shame such talented people have had to choose the more lucrative MMO/casual path. :/

    BTW: There’s a new kind of indie bundle @ http://www.indieroyale.com/ .

Oh damn why I didn’t know Henkel is running a blog?! Still on my Todo list: Buy all Realms of Arkania games on GOG! I remember playing part 1 (and 2?) back on Amiga in the early 90s briefly but they were too tough for me then.

You know, I find the saddest part about this story is that he looked awesome in the make-up photos he shows, then, who ever did the box art just said – “Screw it” – and put an over-powering blue filter over the whole thing. The photos are what I would think of when I thought of the Nameless One, him just being a dead guy and all.

I honestly wasn’t sure when I first played the game that the guy on the box was supposed to be the Nameless One. I thought it was a some kind of blue extra-planar troll or something . . . .
