Feelin’ Old Yet?

Posted by Rampant Coyote on June 2, 2016

My youngest (of two) daughters graduated from High School today. Her older sister gets married next month (now that it’s June). Both of my daughters were born in the time that I was making games for SingleTrac.

I guess I should now feel old or something. I dunno. Maybe tomorrow it’ll hit me. Right now, I have two geeky daughters who are hitting milestones in their life. Dunno how they got to be so old when I haven’t changed. Well, okay, I changed a little. I guess I’m not really 25 years old anymore. The original Playstation is no longer the hot new machine anymore. And I don’t dress up in armor and beat people up with padded swords on the weekends anymore. Well, not that often, at least.

But I still haven’t beaten Wizardry 7. So some things haven’t changed.

Congratulations! And I’m glad you don’t really feel old. I keep feeling old, and I don’t even have any excuse because I only got out of college four years ago.

Congratulations. Going through the same feelings in reverse order. My son graduated high school 2 weeks ago, though my daughter still has 3 years to go. I got a lot later start than you did though, I was almost 40 before my son was born.

Oh, yeah. We just had the two (which is a tiny family here in Utah). These days it seems that “empty nesters” are at least in their late 50s, either because they started later or (like here) have big families. So… we’re in a weird situation. We’re not sure what we’re gonna do with ourselves.

Which is kinda funny… back at the start we were like, “Hey, the kids will be done while we’re still relatively young, and life will get back to normal.” And now, after half a lifetime, we’re like, “What the hell is normal?!?!?!”

If you ever needed a sign that NOW was the time to play (and complete) Wizardry 7, this is it! 🙂
