The Steam Sale

Posted by Rampant Coyote on July 12, 2013

If you didn’t know already…

Steam’s Summer Sale Started Yesterday

I have more games than I can possibly play at this point, so naturally, I haven’t purchased anything. Oh, wait, that’s wrong…

I did. I really did. I regret nothing.

Actually, seeing how the prices of semi-recent games have come down, I guess I kinda regret buying them at full price when they first came out. For indie games, that’s one thing… the devs need the money. 🙂  But for mainstream games, it’s like… wait until the next sale and save yourself $20 or $30…

The dreaded (at least by my wallet) steam sales , I am in the same boat too many games and too little time . I too find myself waiting on the mainstream games to be deeply discounted, unless I am going to play them immediately, before making a purchase. The only thing good about digital is that I still have room to move around in my office because if I had a box for every game my room would look like a horders paradise.

I hate the steam sales. So many game’s that I want to play at such a reasonable price. One or two games on sale I can handle… but at the end of the summer when I’ve got 50 new games.

Admittedly, I’d spend in the area of 60 dollars total… but it’s still good enough reason for me to not open steam for a while.

Not sure this is new – but apparently Steam sends you an e-mail when a game on your wishlist goes on sale. I can’t decide if this is good, because I don’t have to buy anything at full price anymore, or nasty because I can’t resist…

Whelp. I think I’ve finally reached saturation point after nearly 8 years of Steam sales. My power to resist the Steam summer sale is strong … mainly because I already own all the games on sale. I’ve already got all the games I want, purchased in prior sales.

I’ve only bought one game so far, and I’ve been checking in every few hours with the sale. I don’t even have anything left on my Wishlist.
