A Slay Retrospective

A quote: “Slay is quick and vicious – one wrong move, most especially buying Knight or Baron when you don’t have the infrastructure to support them, and your viral spread across the centre of the land evaporates into small, useless chunks.”
I was a late convert to Slay. I didn’t even know it existed until ten years later. And I was hooked. It’s a deceptively simple game (with even more simple graphics), that can be played fairly quickly. But it is wickedly addictive. I’m still impressed by it.
I don’t have an iPhone — I bought the PC version. I’ve definitely gotten my money’s worth out of it.
You can check out the free demo of Slay here.

Yet another reason why I find the blog valuable, Jay. I’d never heard of this until I saw it on your site recently. Now I’ve played the starter island several dozen times. 🙂
A game like this really shuts up the graphics vs. gameplay debate.

Heh – you can pretty much play that starter island as the entire game, slowly moving up the difficulty levels. Maybe it’s just my skill level, but for me… after a half-dozen in each size category, they all come out pretty much alike. But then I am not *that* good at it.
I haven’t tried it with other players or with player-created island yet. I imagine that might make things pretty interesting!
