Grimoire: Now releasing on August 1st. He really, really means it this time.

Grimoire: Heralds of the Winged Exemplar will be available at a 10% discount the first week, and Cleve promises it will never, ever, ever be available for sale at a discount ever again on Steam.
Yes, I know. I’m contributing to his mad market gamble here, adding to his signal. I really do hope that the game:
#1 – Releases someday. Soon would be awesome. Before some of the people who have paid crowdfunding money for it (or the creator) die of old age would be, you know, good.
#2 – Is worth the 20 years of development time and endless overhauls that went into it.
I think #1 is in the realm of possibility. #2… well, that’s impossible, but barring that, I at least hope it’s a lot of fun and well worth playing. That’s achievable. From reports of the “superdemo,” it’s… pretty complicated. That’s not a virtue, but hopefully the full release (whenever that happens) eases players into it, and it’s an indicator of depth. This is a game for hardcore fans, after all. Not that I’ll probably see the complete depth of the game. I expect that this will be one of those games I play for 30 hours or so and never finish, but of course I’ll hope for better. I can’t wait to hear reports from the people who actually beat this giant mega-RPG.
Assuming, again, it actually releases. Someday. I guess it’s time to set up the thermometers in Hell once more, and start taking bets.

Part of me kinda hopes it doesn’t release, and this continues for another 2 decades. The other part of me wants to see it. It looks like something I might like.
Full disclosure, I have been following this since the beginning, the mid 90’s. I also had words with Cleve on several occasions on usenet. I mention this because one thing that never seems to come up anymore is Cleve as a person. Dude is a virulent racist. One only has to search for his old usenet posts to see this. And it wasn’t just hinted at it was blatant and he embraced it. In fact the reason he said he moved to Australia and built a bunker was to avoid the coming race war he predicted every year until the early 2000’s. There is so much more, and I’m not gonna go into it further, but this seems to be something everyone had forgot. And is never mentioned in connection with the game these days. I’m not saying it should always be mentioned, just that people who didn’t follow this game, or, because the game has been in development for 20+ years, weren’t alive at the time, or too young to have had knowledge of it.
And again, the game might be great, I might even buy it if the early reaction is good. I just think it is something people should be aware of.

Who cares if he’s a “racist”, his political affiliation or religious beliefs.
If its a game you might like, enjoy it or not on its merits (as long as the game isnt espousing some racial/political ideology that you oppose)
I never could understand that- What someones beliefs have to do with their job – Especially when theres no propaganda in the product they are selling.
So who cares- If Anita Sarkeesian or David Duke makes a game I enjoy- I’ll judge it on the games merits and not the creator- This never used to be an issue (Walt Disney was highly racist and that doesnt seem to matter- Nor should it)
This is why we cannot have nice things and is creating an aura of fear for people to voice any opinion that isnt ‘accepted’ by the majority and its a damn shame.

It’s August 2nd now. Guess what hasn’t released? I’m shocked at this turn of events. Wait… no I’m not.

You beat out my post. I’m delaying posting it to give a reasonable buffer of doubt.

Saint, it goes both ways. All I was doing is expressing my opinion without fear. I’m not arguing with his right to express his opinion. I”m putting it out there for people who might not want to support a person with those beliefs.
These are both valid stances. I believe anyway. I dunno about the content of the game. I just wanna make sure people are aware of who they are supporting.

Yes, please, keep it civil. Since Cleve has made many of his bizarro views known, I supposed it’s fair game, but if it gets nasty I start going into damage control mode.
Cleve has also said he’s the last living Neanderthal and a whole bunch of really crazy crap, so being outrageous is sort of his MO.
