Planet Stronghold is a story-based sci-fi
role-playing game featuring manga-style art, turn-based combat, and
several romantic possibilities. Hey, it can't just be about killing
things, now can it?
You take the role of
young soldier assigned to the most well-defended human outpost in
the galaxy, Planet Stronghold. But as the story progresses,
you may find yourself having to choose a side to determine not only
the destiny of the planet, but of the entire human race. The story -
and your relationships with the other characters - is dynamic based
upon your choices.
This game offers a unique approach to the RPG genre, combining a little bit
of Visual Novels (VN) and even a touch of the Dating Sim category to the role-playing.
There are non-combat approaches to several problems, requiring the use of optional skills such
as Explosives, Science, and Sneaking. And there are plenty of equipment options, exploration,
and traditional turn-based battles. But, so far as I can tell, no orcs or elves. This is not
a bad thing. I'm elf / orc agnostic. But there are aliens, enemy humans, and robots to content with
While Planet Stringhold offers plenty for the veteran RPG fan, the straightforward
map and dialog-driven decisions make it, in my opinion, quite approachable by less experienced gamers.
Combat can get a little option-heavy, but it starts out gently enough that an inexperienced gamer
will probably not have much of a problem with the learning curve.
