GOG.COM - Realms of Arkania Now Available
I'm sure a lot of you got the same email announcement I did from GOG.COM, but for those who didn't...
Realms of Arkania is now available at GOG.COM. They've got Realms of Arcania 1 & 2 available now, and Realms of Arcania 3 will be released soon.
Cheap. Old-school hard-core RPG goodness.
Argh. When these games were new, I had plenty of time to play, but no money. Now they are cheap enough for anybody to afford 'em, but I have no time!

Great games! I only stopped playing when I couldn't get them to run properly with WinXP. This might be my chance :)
I've got all three games, and I enjoyed them. As I recall, though, I wasn't wild about them, and I'm not sure why. These are really my kind of games - turn-based, party-based RPGs with detailed skills.
But when they were released, I was still a bit disappointed. Heh, never satisfied, am I? But that was a time when my high expectations of computer games - with the rapid advances in computer power, I kept expecting more and more - tended to overcome the reality.
Unfortunately, when impressive changes did occur, most of the games themselves moved to "real-time" - and often single-character - instead of the turn-based, party-based games I loved. And there seemed to be a long drought before Baldur's Gate and similar games revived the RPG genre.
Oh, well. They're worth playing, as I recall. I just don't have the same fond memories of them as I do Ultima IV/V, the SSI "Gold Box" games, or even the Magic Candle games.

I owned them and lost them. I finished 3 and never got around to finishing 2, but got quite a ways into it. Killer games!! I lost many hours of sleep to these babies. Among the deepest RPG's I have ever played.
Ooh THANK YOU for posting this.
OoOH I gotta see if crossover games can run it.
I think if I had to list my favouritest RPGs, all of them are super old. -_-
... Dark queen of Krynn. Wizardry (all of em), Serpent Isle (ultima 7, part 2).
Realms of Arkania wasn't as good. It had flaws, but it was also majorly INTERESTING.
Such as >.> if you run around town naked, the townsfolk start reacting... badly.
XD I don't know why I did that but I was curious! And the fact that they reacted... that really tickled me.
