Indie Blowout Sale on Steam This Weekend
Ye gods.
So - big sale this weekend on Steam. A ten-pack of popular indie games for $29.95, or a five-pack for $19.95. I don't have many of these, myself.
Among the games for sale are Blueberry Garden, The Path, Crayon Physics Deluxe, Braid, Everyday Shooter, World of Goo, Mr. Robot, Gish, Audiosurf, and Darwinia.
Now, I know Steam makes up for in volume what it squeezes to hell on profit margins, so ... this is probably not a horrible deal for the developers. But still, it's a great deal for the indie game player, so ... enjoy. $3 / pop on the 10-pack deal is really pretty unbelievable.
Big Steam Weekend Indie Game Sale
Enjoy.

Already got 'The Witcher' which also happens to be on sale. So far it seems pretty entertaining certainly worth the $28 I coughed up for it.
Speaking about indie games, has the Rampant Cyote played the Knights of the Chalice demo yet? You'd think old school D&D gaming with Ultima graphics would be worth at least a blog post from such a longtime nerd such as yourself...

I had been waiting for a good sale to aquire most of these games. This is going to keep me busy for a long time.
I had the chance to play Knights of the Chalice *briefly*, Demiath. Got my butt kicked in the demo. But what I played, I enjoyed thoroughly. It's very impressive!
I already had Mr. Robot, Audiosurf, and Darwinia (all great games), so the 10-pack didn't appeal to me too much.
But I snapped up the 5-pack; Braid and World of Goo were both on my "I should probably buy that sometime" lists. And the other games in the pack looked reasonably interesting, so made for good bonuses :)

Got the pack alright :). Just after getting it, I finished the first chapter of World of goo and the first 3 worlds of Braid. And touched the Path.
Was thinking of getting those games for a long time. But now, I'm asking myself: I'm saying I want to support indie game. Now, having bought that pack, instead of each game at full price, does that make me an hypocrit? :/

I don't think so, no.
It's not about price per unit. I mean, if I sold a copy of Frayed Knights to every man, woman, and child on the planet for only $0.01, would I be disappointed? Let's see.... 6.7 billion people, x $0.01 = $67 million... No. No, I think I could live with that.
The way I take it is that if a limited-time sale is what it takes to get me off my duff so I buy a game, it's all good.
