Benefits of Videogames
Since some locals in my neighborhood have been freaked out by the recent BYU study that found that (my interpretation) excess solitary gaming can effect you as badly as any other excessive solitary activity, I figured I'd pass along this link from Edge:
The 15 Clearest Benefits of Gaming
Many of these benefits can also be obtained via *gasp* other, more conventional activities... just as the problems associated with gaming are associated with many other more conventional (and accepted) activities.
Go figger.

All this defending of yourself and your hobby has gotta stop, Jay. You're not doing your part as society's designated scapegoat.
I believe the BYU study was upfront and clear in that in found correlation yet not causation, and that people whose lives already are "bad" seeking comfort in games was just as much in play as the games themselves possibly worsening "good" lives.
The researchers were also very clear that in no way should anyone think about taking away games completely but practicing moderation was the key.
DGM I know your comment was made in support, but there's defense, and then there's defensiveness. The BYU study found nothing to be defensive about.
